The choir

The musical working groups are generally aimed at students in grades 1 to 4 and take place once a week. On average, around 40 children participate in the choir, the Orff group is attended by around 20 children, and the flute lessons include up to 12 participants. The courses are led by qualified specialist teachers.

Over the course of the school year, the children present their musical skills at various events, including enrollment ceremonies, the weekly Advent singing in the school, the Christmas service, and performances in senior citizens’ homes, clubs, or companies. The program concludes with a musical evening at the end of the school year and participation in the school theater festival weeks in Neumünster.

Orff Group

The Orff Group is aimed at students in grades 1 to 4 and takes place once a week. Around 20 children regularly participate. The working group is led by a specialist teacher.

In the Orff Group, the children make music with Orff instruments, sing, and implement rhythms and melodies together. Basic musical skills, creativity, and teamwork are encouraged.

Performances take place during the school year at various events, including enrollment ceremonies, Advent singing, the Christmas service, as well as at the musical evening at the end of the school year and the school theater festival weeks in Neumünster.

Taekwondo Group

Since 1996, the Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School has offered a Taekwondo Group, which enjoys great popularity among the students. In mixed-age groups with up to 50 children, the sports group combines exercise with important social learning goals.

In addition to the sporting activity, self-discipline, concentration, and responsiveness are promoted. Taekwondo appeals to all muscle groups and places great emphasis on fairness, respect, and politeness in dealing with each other.

The Taekwondo Group regularly enriches school festivals with impressive performances. It is also part of the “School and Club” project, which allows participating children to also take part in training at Post-SV Neumünster free of charge.

Theater Group

The Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School has had a theater group for many years. Through regular participation, more demanding pieces, such as “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, can also be rehearsed.

Rehearsals take place once a week, and a theater or musical performance is usually performed once a year. Depending on the piece, up to 25 students from grades 2 to 4 participate. The theater group is accompanied by employees of the Schülernest.

The theater group often works together with the musical working groups on musicals. Performances take place at various school and extracurricular events, including enrollment ceremonies, the Christmas service, the musical evening, and the school theater weeks in Neumünster.

Football Group 2nd Grade

The football group is aimed in particular at children in the 2nd grade who are not active in a sports club. It offers students the opportunity to learn basic football skills, get exercise, and have fun playing together.

Researchers Group

In the Researchers Group, the children pursue exciting questions from nature, technology, and the environment. The topics tie in with the lessons and expand them through their own experimentation and discovery. The working group takes place once a week in the research room.

Puzzle Group

In the Puzzle Group, particularly interested and high-achieving children are given the opportunity to deal intensively with mathematical questions. Logical thinking is promoted through puzzle tasks and thinking games. The working group takes place once a week in the learning workshop.
