Friends Association
The Friends Association is an association of parents, friends, alumni, and teachers whose goal is to promote and support the Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School in its educational mission. This is achieved in particular through the purchase of expensive teaching materials, toy boxes for breaks, and the organization of events.
The funding has already achieved, among other things:
- Redesign of the schoolyard with playground equipment
- Purchase of toy boxes for breaks
- Financial support of the school library
- Granting of subsidies for class trips
In addition, the Friends Association maintains the Hallig Group and the Open All-Day School-Schülernest. It is the employer for both institutions. The supervisory authority lies with the school administration.
We would be pleased if you could decide to join the Friends Association. Since the association is recognized as non-profit, the association fee can be claimed for tax purposes.
Anyone who feels connected to the Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School can become a member.
The membership fee is at least 12,- Euro per year (the contribution is open upwards).
If your child leaves the school, your membership ends automatically, unless you inform us that you wish to remain a member
– which would make us happy!
Child and youth welfare measure “Hallig Group”
The number of children in the school who become conspicuous due to behavioral disorders is constantly increasing. The reasons for this are varied. The school strives to respond to these changed circumstances in a differentiated manner.
However, for some children, the pedagogical possibilities of the school are no longer sufficient. Their needs and deficits, also in the social areas of life, are so great that they cannot be adequately addressed within the classroom.
In order to give these children a more appropriate start in life, the “Hallig Group” was established. Here, children are cared for all day in order to integrate them socially and pedagogically into the school and the environment.
The Friends Association of the Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School supports and promotes this facility.
We, the sponsors of the Hallig Group, are addressing this problem.
And with success: Learning in the classroom communities is fun again for everyone.
The Open All-Day School
– Schülernest –
The Schülernest of the Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School, which was initially run as a supervised primary school, has been in existence since September 1, 1998. Since August 1, 2004, the Schülernest has been organized as an open all-day school and accompanies the children around the lessons.
The children can come to the facility from 7:00 a.m. and have breakfast there. From 12:00 p.m., a balanced, child-friendly lunch is offered for the students of the 1st and 2nd grades. From 12:40 p.m., various working groups take place, for example homework supervision, choir or Taekwondo. Parents receive more detailed information about the working groups at the beginning of each school year. The working groups usually last until about 1:20 p.m., after which supervised free play or other projects are offered.
The children of the 3rd and 4th grades have the opportunity to have lunch after class at 1:00 p.m. Afterwards, they also have access to an extensive range of working groups and learning aids until about 2:20 p.m.
The monthly fee is charged exclusively for lunch. In the 2007/2008 school year, it was about 60 euros per month. In addition, a holiday program is offered in the first week of the spring and autumn vacations as well as in the first and second week of the summer vacations, for which separate costs are incurred.
Children are admitted to the facility whose care cannot be taken over by the parents directly after class due to professional or other reasons or where care seems sensible from a pedagogical point of view. Participation in the Schülernest is binding for one year.
