Mathematics instruction at the Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School aims to build a solid basic understanding of mathematics in students and to develop a joy of thinking, discovering, and problem-solving. Mathematics is understood not only as arithmetic, but as a subject that promotes logical thinking, language, creativity, and everyday skills. <\/p>

The instruction is based on the subject requirements of the state of Schleswig-Holstein and is regularly reviewed and further developed within the school. The basis is a hands-on, clear, and differentiated instruction that individually supports and challenges all children. <\/p>

\u2022 Basic geometric shapes (e.g., circle, triangle, square, rectangle)
\u2022 Patterns, ornaments, and symmetries
\u2022 Mirroring, building, laying, and drawing
\u2022 Orientation in plans (seating and street plans)

Learning with Head, Heart, and Hand<\/h2>

Mathematics instruction is strongly action- and material-oriented. The children work with, among other things:
\u2022 the textbook Das Zahlenbuch
\u2022 a variety of visual and laying materials
\u2022 digital whiteboards and tablets
\u2022 learning apps such as ANTON <\/p>

Differentiation is a consistent principle: support and challenge offers, weekly plans, individual support, as well as additional offers such as a puzzle club and participation in mathematics competitions enable learning at different levels.<\/p>

Aim of mathematics instruction<\/h2>
