Music at the Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Music lessons at the Johann-Hinrich-Fehrs-School promote the creative, emotional, and social development of the students. Music is understood as a form of expression, a cultural asset, and a communal experience. The children learn not only to listen to music but also to actively shape it \u2013 through singing, making music, moving, and creative work. <\/p>

The lessons are based on the subject requirements of the IQSH for primary level and take place for one hour per week in all four school years. Central goals are the joy of music, the conscious handling of sounds, and the development of own musical ideas. <\/p>

The music lessons are competence-, action-, and experience-oriented and include the following areas:
\u2022 Singing
\u2022 Songs for seasons, festivals, and special occasions
\u2022 Welcome and ritual songs
\u2022 Songs from different countries and cultures
\u2022 Singing together at school events
\u2022 Making music
\u2022 Getting to know and playing different instruments
\u2022 Orff instruments, staff games, boomwhackers, drums
\u2022 Accompaniment of songs and simple melodies
\u2022 Inventing own musical accompaniments
\u2022 Listening to and understanding music
\u2022 Distinguishing between sounds, rhythms, and tempi
\u2022 Getting to know different music styles and traditions
\u2022 Listening to and experiencing great musical works (e.g., Carnival of the Animals)
\u2022 Movement and design
\u2022 Moving and dancing to the music
\u2022 Painting and designing to musical impressions
\u2022 Translating music into pictures, language, and movement<\/p>

Musical and interdisciplinary skills<\/h2>

In addition to subject-specific content, the following are specifically promoted in music lessons:
\u2022 Listening and perception skills
\u2022 Sense of rhythm and musical expression
\u2022 Teamwork and consideration
\u2022 Concentration and endurance
\u2022 Cultural openness and diversity<\/p>

The musical terminology is introduced in an age-appropriate manner and is initially based on German terms such as loud, quiet, high, low, fast, or slow.<\/p>

Learning with instruments, rituals, and projects<\/h2>

The lessons mainly take place in the music room, which is equipped with a variety of instruments (including piano, e-piano, guitars, ukuleles, Orff instruments). Regular rituals such as vocal exercises and welcome songs structure the lessons. <\/p>

Music also plays an important role beyond the subject lessons, e.g. at:
\u2022 Advent singing
\u2022 School celebrations and events
\u2022 Concerts of the musical working groups<\/p>

Differentiation, assessment, and media competence<\/h2>

All children are supported according to their abilities, e.g. through:
\u2022 instrument parts with different levels of difficulty
\u2022 simplified or extended tasks
\u2022 Support from fellow students<\/p>

The performance assessment is primarily based on active participation, making music, creative design, and social behavior in the classroom. Digital media and recording devices are used in addition. <\/p>

Aim of the music lessons<\/h2>
